Ju Percussion Group 40th Anniversary U.S. Tour to Open in San Francisco This November

Taiwan's Ju Percussion Group (JPG) is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a U.S. tour this November, bringing its signature production Energy & Infinite to American audiences. The tour opens on November 10, 2026 at 8:00 PM at Herbst Theater, San Francisco. Tickets are on sale now through City Box Office.

Founded in 1986 by percussionist Ju, Tzong-Ching, Ju Percussion Group has long upheld the vision of "Rooted in Taiwan, Embracing the World." The ensemble blends Eastern and Western percussion traditions with contemporary composition, theatrical elements, and Taiwanese cultural identity, appearing regularly at major international festivals and on stages around the world.

Energy & Infinite has already been presented on numerous international stages. In 2024 it debuted at the Auckland Arts Festival in New Zealand, performed at Salle Gaveau in Paris, and appeared at the Bangkok International Dance and Music Festival. In early 2026 the production traveled to Eastern Europe for the first time, selling out concerts at international percussion festivals in Croatia and Slovenia.

The San Francisco concert marks the first stop of the 40th-anniversary U.S. tour. After the November 10 performance, the group will perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), and conclude the tour on November 21, 2026 at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Program highlights

The San Francisco program includes works by Taiwanese and international composers:

• Solar Myth by Chang Chio-ying — inspired by Indigenous Taiwanese mythology.
• Tsá-Tshi by Kao Han-yen — a sonic portrait of Taiwan's traditional markets, transforming vendors' calls, crowd interactions, and everyday sounds into music.
• Seek by Lu Huan-wei — showcasing the demanding "six-mallet" technique and the performer's journey of exploration and breakthrough.
• BeyonD the bEnd by American composer Gene Koshinski.
• Attraction 2 by French composer Emmanuel Séjourné.

Beyond performance, Ju Percussion Group is committed to percussion composition, arts education, talent development, and international cultural exchange. The group hopes the 40th-anniversary tour will continue introducing Taiwanese culture and performing arts to audiences abroad through the language of percussion.
